Wallingford
Description
Wallingford has a distinct family feel, with its tree-lined streets, grand turn of the century homes, cozy 1920's bungalows and welcoming commercial district. Minutes north of downtown, the neighborhood is centrally located with I-5 to the east, Lake Union to the south and Highway 99 to the west. International restaurants, pubs, independent movie theatres, and a wide variety of retail shops line the neighborhood's commercial district along North 45th Street. Gasworks Park, located on the shores of Lake Union, is a favorite local destination. The park has spectacular views of Lake Union and downtown and is the site of a large annual 4th of July fireworks display. The park's windswept hill is a favorite of kite enthusiasts. Cyclists and inline skaters enjoy easy access to the Burke-Gilman Trail, which runs through the park along the shores of Lake Washington and back towards Bothell, Woodinville and Redmond.
