I have been a dedicated real estate professional in Seattle for over 14 years with Lake & Company Real Estate. I feel honored to be in this profession, and have created a simple business model of providing comprehensive service, a depth of knowledge about houses and local neighborhoods to every hopeful homebuyer or seller that I work with. I also have an unwaivering goal of treating my clients and others in this industry the way I would expect to be treated. Fortunately, most of my clients come by way of referral from satisfied past clients.
Prior to this career, I received a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and was drawn to the life of a craftsman, becoming a carpenter and soon after forming a general contracting company in the Bay Area. I pursued quality residential remodeling projects, built some new homes and also found a niche in small commercial projects. These included two restaurant interiors, a dentist's office, creating a new shoe store, and renovating a warehouse in San Francisco into artist lofts for two commercial photograhers. Some of my residential projects appeared in "Sunset Magazine" remodeling publications.
My decision to change careers and become a Realtor turned out to be a natural for me. I was already comfortable and experienced managing my own business and my knowledge about construction, architecture, and home improvement has been a real asset to the buyers and sellers I have worked with over the years.
I am constantly improving my skills by taking continuing education classes, participating in our excellent weekly meetings here at Lake & Co. and reading in many related subjects.
My wife Carla and I moved here in 1987. She had graduated from the Evergreen College and my mother had grown up here so we had some ties to the area. We ended up settling in Fremont and bought our first house before I was a Realtor. We have a daughter who is a freshman in college and a son who attends Ballard High School. We have been actively involved in the local schools, volunteering in the classroom, helping with field trips and fundraisers. I particularly enjoy skiing, hiking, and a new passion is my small sailboat which we keep on Portage Bay during the warmer months. We enjoy the local music scene and finding new restaurants. I read a great deal of fiction, non fiction and yes, I am an ever hopeful Mariner fan.
